You spread your opinion around like it's the facts of life for everyone lol. However, M-LOK rails will be lighter since they mill out more material for the slots, so when size is the same, Keymod will be heavier. I don't see anything that gives either Keymod or M-LOK an advantage in that area. The Geissele Mk5 (Keymod) is the same exact OD as the Mk8 (M-LOK). Just looking at the schematics of the m-lok, it will be hard to adopt to a tubular or more narrow design. I guess that's going to come down on the fit of the threads between the nut and the bolt, so it has enough tension to turn when set far enough off of the nut before putting it into the slot. Neal0124, I saw that but it still requires the nut that you can't see, turning correctly in the slot and being in position before getting tightened down. As for adoption from the third party companies, it certainly would have been easier a couple of years ago.

Of course that doesn't mean that costs of freefloat handguards for the end user will drop. Machining would also be simplified by comparison to keymod for aluminum handguards as well. Of course that's only an issue for polymer handguards. Keymod requires a chamfer for the slots, which you probably couldn't manage with polymer. Might be tough to gain adoption from third party vendors. Never the less, seems like just about all the big name manufacturers are on the keymod bandwagon. I have not gone to war with the rifle but they have not failed me in any way yet. I have polymer keymod rail segments from strike industries and they work just fine. * For better long term secured mounting, use blue thread locking compound on mounting screw thread only. Not sure why Magpul says that keymod does not work well with polymer. * Tighten screws (clockwise) until firmly secured (18-20 in-lbs). This will insure the sling mount hole in the KMSM is lined up correctly with the hole in the KeyMod slot on your handguard, so your swivel will fully seat correctly. * With the KMSM in on the KeyMod rail, and the screws still loose, insert your QD sling swivel into the KMSM. * With supplied Torx wrench, loosen (counter clockwise) the two mounting screws enough so the assembly can drop in and slide forward into the desired mounting position of the rail system. * Locate the forward position of the mount, indicated by the arrow marking, located underneath the sling mount, arrow towards the muzzle.
